SEO

If you are serious about your website, at least install Google Analytics or any other preferred statistics app. Collect data about your visitors, and find out what the customer journey on your website is. Find out what pages people like and which pages they dislike. A sitemap is a file that tells exactly how crawlers should crawl your website. For example, if there is a page that does not get linked to your website but you still want the crawler to crawl it then you would simply include it in your sitemap file to tell the crawlers that there is something important there. The biggest mistake I find search engine optimization (SEO) copywriters making is attempting to substitute a generic term for a specific keyphrase. If you’re not able to rank on the first page, try to write another article, focused on a (even) more long tail keyword. Make it a little bit more specific, more niche. And see how that goes.

SEO for Mindshare/Branding

The sheer apparent complexity of SEO is enough to turn some people away entirely. An SEO strategy that builds your website’s relevancy and authority in the desired geographic area will ensure the site will be visible for a variety of search phrases. This increases the number of opportunities for your website to be seen among results. Both Google and Bing take page-loading speed into account in their website ranking algorithm. Much of digital marketing has revolved around getting found by search engines and coming up within the first page of the SERPs

Carve out time for updating and improving older SEO content

No website in a competitive market gets valuable traffic from Google in 2017 without a lot of work, technical work and content curation. SEO results are only keenly felt long-term, and therefore it can be difficult for small business owners to see the value in taking time out of their day to write about their industry. SEO isn’t just for large companies. As a small business or local business, there is actually a lot you can do to achieve local goals yourself. Many of these things relate to focus. One of the primary triggers in their algorithm is domain authority, which Google calculates based on a myriad of factors; in fact, the RankBrain system that Google uses employs more than 200 ranking signals.

Concentrate on actionable content

Take time to write compelling Meta descriptions for all important pages of the site, and for any pages that can be shared socially. Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is an integral part of any digital marketing strategy. It is a crucial element in organically driving customers to your businesses via online platforms. In other words, it's modern day marketing! Besides voice search and Google’s focus on that, more is changing in and for Google. Specifically: a few new technologies and a profound new way of looking at the web. Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "Whenever I speak to people about SEO, the number one question that I get asked is, “What’s the most important factor to rank number one in Google?”"

Authority metrics are only barometers

From a quality page point of view, duplicate content is a low-quality indicator. Boilerplate text is another low-quality indicator. Think of outreach asa brand awareness campaign for your most authoritative audience. Make sure content is not buried inside rich media (Adobe Flash Player, JavaScript, Ajax) and verify that rich media doesn't hide links from crawlers. Add structured data markup in your website's code to include vital business information for Google to find and showcase.
